Covenant’s Sports Academy is an after-school, inclusive, skills development program for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are excited to work with our students to develop their fitness and skills in a variety of sports.

Sports Academy Coordinator

Jono Chor is our Sports Academy Coordinator. He has been a sports coach for over 10 years, specialising in a wide range of sports including soccer, basketball, Oztag and dodgeball. His passion is to see all students involved in some form of physical activity that builds confidence and provides opportunities to learn about different sports.

Basketball

Our Basketball program is designed to develop and build on students' dribbling, passing, shooting and defending skills. Students will also learn about game tactics, team work, positioning and building power in their play. The Basketball program focuses on agility, acceleration, jumping and speed, and is suitable for students of all abilities.

Multisport

Within our Multisport program, we will be teaching the basics of essential movement to best prepare our littlest students for the big world of sport. This program will teach students teamwork, endurance and agility, as well as building up their skills in soccer, basketball, tee-ball and other various sports.

Netball

In Netball, the focus is on learning catching and passing skills, landing technique, game tactics and positioning, attack and defence. Our Netball program will focus on being 'Netball Fit', which is about staying injury-free, building strength, improving flexibility, and increasing confidence. This program is for students of all abilities and a great training platform for both school and club competitions.

AFL

AFL is an exciting and fun sport which brings together skills for many other sports. The AFL program is designed to develop knowledge and skills in marking, kicking and handballing. Under the direction of our accredited and enthusiastic coaches, students will learn skills in attacking, contesting and defending, all within a fun and safe environment. Students have the opportunity to build strength, speed, endurance, agility and fitness to improve their confidence on the field. This program is suitable for students of all abilities and is a great training platform for school and club competitions.

Soccer

Our program is designed for students of all abilities and is run under the direction of experienced coaches who are passionate about the game. In each session we look at developing key soccer skills such as ball control, first touch and passing, as well as increasing speed and agility. Students are developing motor skills, learning to work as a team and improving confidence. This program is a great training platform for both school and club competitions.

Athletics

Speed and endurance are valuable assets across all sports. This program is perfect for students who want to build up their skills in running events and high jump or even a combination of both. Our Level 3 Athletics Australia Accredited coach in Jumps and Sprints brings a wealth of experience and quality coaching that will be of benefit to students at any level of ability. These sessions will be a huge benefit for all students either training for Zone or trying athletics for the first time! Students will have the opportunity to train in either High Jump, Sprints or Middle/Long Distance running, or a combination of the three.

Touch Football

Under the direction of our enthusiastic and experienced coaches, this program will teach students all the elements of Touch Football, including passing and receiving the ball, stepping, ball grip and control, defending and positioning. Students will learn team work and build their fitness and speed.

Taekwondo

This program is an awesome introduction to the Korean martial arts of Taekwondo and is run by an external provider. Students will learn dynamic kicking and boxing techniques, as well as practical self-defense fundamentals, while developing strength, flexibility, balance and focus. This program teaches modern Taekwondo skills with an emphasis on perseverance, discipline and leadership.
